Teller (Silver Spring)

Summary and Objective:

The teller’s primary responsibility is ensuring timely, courteous and accurate processing of customer transactions, following bank policies, procedures and providing superior customer service. 

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Answers the phone in a courteous, professional and pleasant manner and transfers calls with appropriate announcement and salutation.
  • Maintains their workstation and vault areas in a neat and orderly fashion to avoid losses of documents and to present a clean appearance of the bank.
  • Demonstrates flexibility with hours and location as needed for staff coverage.
  • Understands and follows policies, procedures, and seeks management approval when exceptions are appropriate.
  • Ensures courteous and accurate processing of customer transactions. This includes but is not limited to: deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, transfers of funds, Treasury Tax and Loan payments.
  • Examines checks for endorsements, verifies other information such as dates, guaranteed amounts, payees and checks identification of the customer.
    Is knowledgeable of REG CC holds and notices.
  • Settles cash drawer, Automated Teller Machine (ATM) and vault daily with accuracy.
  • Process night deposits, courier and by mail transactions while maintaining appropriate logs of these transactions under dual control.
  • Reports teller differences to the head teller and supervisors, immediately.
  • Is alert to possible fraud or suspect activity that may require a Suspicious Activity Report (SAR), Currency Transaction Report (CTR) or other reporting.
  • Reports suspected activity to appropriate supervisors.
  • Completes and maintains branch daily logs for negotiable items and forwards them to the appropriate department(s), including filing monetary reports and Currency Transaction Reports (CTR).
  • Recognizes potential sales opportunities and refers customers to appropriate staff. Must have full product and systems knowledge in order to complete this task.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years’ banking experience preferred, cash handling experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills

Business Development Officer (BDO) - DC & Silver Spring Markets

Summary and Objective:

The business development officer (BDO) is responsible for calling on prospective (external) clients in order to build new business in core deposits, cash management services, RDC (remote deposit capture) and qualified loan referrals with efficiency and professionalism while mindful of the banks desire to grow its core deposit relationships.

Primary responsibility is building a book of business from non-customers core deposit growth and qualified loan referrals. In addition, support of existing customers as necessary.

This professional must maintain knowledge of industry trends, products, and technology; participate in community events, and broaden new business opportunities. It is imperative that the business development officer understand the specific requirements of the job description. The BDO will have specific goals as would be expected in such a position.

This is a full-time position exempt position. The position is a Monday through Friday role. Hours are typically 8:30a.m. to 5:30 p.m., schedule and events depending. Occasional weekend events may be required based on sales activities.

Local travel is expected as necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.

Required Education and Experience:

  • In-market relevant experience
  • Four year college degree preferred
  • Four years’ banking experience preferred
